6 arrested after in Navy Yard after incidents involving large groups of juveniles

Six people were arrested after police responded to several incidents involving large groups of juveniles along the Waterfront and Navy Yard areas late Friday night, according to D.C. Police.

Officials briefly closed roads near the 700 block of Maine Avenue Friday evening after responding to an unknown situation, according to a social media post at around 7:50 p.m. Roads returned to normal at around 8:30 p.m.

In Navy Yard, at around 7:20 p.m., officers responded to an alleged fight among juveniles on the 500 block of Water Street, Southwest, though no injuries were reported.

As of 11 p.m., police said they arrested six people, five for disorderly conduct and another for assault on a police officer. The officer was not seriously injured and no other serious injuries were reported, officials said.

Police said they will continue to keep a heavy presence in the area, according to a statement.
