WASHINGTON (7News) — The Washington Capitals hosted the GR8 City Celebration on Friday afternoon at Capital One Arena.
The celebration is the latest in a series of events honoring Alex Ovechkin becoming the NHL's All-Time goal scorer.

Friday's event ran from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The time and the venue have both changed from the Capitals' initial plans to accommodate more fans. It was originally scheduled for 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Union Station.
The indoor event was free and open to the general public and will feature photo opportunities, interactive stations, giveaways, alumni appearances, and more.
According to the Washington Capitals, events include Skee Ball, a GR8 Retail Pop Up Shop, an inflatable shooting cage, photo backdrops including the "Capitals" letters, and more. The event will also feature giveaways, including Ovi fat heads on a stick, coasters, buttons, GR8ness t-shirts, and other items.

Ovechkin was be in attendance, as well as Nicklas Backstrom, TJ. Oshie and Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis.
Ovechkin became the NHL's All-Time leading goal scorer on Sunday against the NY Islanders when he scored the 895th goal of his career.
