The 2025 NFL draft is quickly approaching, and draft prospects, coaches, general managers, the league, and fans are preparing for the excitement of this three-day event.

The Washington Commanders had a pleasantly unexpected 2024 season after picking up quarterback Jayden Daniels with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 draft. Daniels, along with new head coach Dan Quinn, took the Commanders to the NFC Championship game after beating the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the playoffs and finished the regular season 12-5.

Washington is looking to build on its outcomes from last season this year, and it starts April 24 with its first pick of the 2025 draft.

Commanders Draft Picks:

As it stands now, the Commanders have five draft picks over the seven rounds. While this could change depending on trades, here is what Washington currently has.

ROUND 1: No. 29 overall pick

ROUND 2: No. 61 overall pick

ROUND 4: No. 128 overall pick (via Houston)

ROUND 6: No. 205 overall pick

ROUND 7: No. 245 overall pick

Commanders Biggest Needs:

While the Commanders have made some moves in the off-season and have a solid core, there is room to build and grow, and the coaching staff will be looking to fill some of their holes next week.

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN: Adding an offensive lineman to provide additional protection for Daniels while he’s in the pocket could be beneficial for the Commanders.

WIDE RECEIVER: Washington has a solid 1-2 punch at wide receiver with Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel, who they acquired from San Francisco this offseason. That said, Washington still has many holes in the position and should be looking to add some additional depth.

EDGE: With Dante Fowler departing from the Commanders during free agency to return to the Dallas Cowboys, there is a hole in the edge position. Dan Quinn liked to run a scheme with a strong pass rush, and having a versatile and solid edge in his repertoire could be very valuable for Washington.

DT, LB, TE: All three of these positions need to be filled, and while Dan Quinn and his team could surprise many by choosing a prospect to fill one of these needs on day one, fans should be prepared to see Quinn pick up players in these positions starting day two and continuing on to the final day of selections.
