DC Weather: Soaking rains to last through much of Friday night

Keep the rain gear handy for your Friday night, with rain likely to continue for much of the overnight. out the week. The heaviest of rains will start to taper off around midnight.

Rainfall has been moderate to heavy at times Friday afternoon, amounting to widespread half inch to over an inch in some cases. Areas west of I-95 have mostly missed out on the heavy rain, but will see light to moderate showers overnight.

Wet weather continues overnight with a steady rain transitioning to showers after midnight. It will be cool and breezy with temperatures in the 40s.

The bulk of the measurable rain will be over Saturday, but it will remain cloudy and cool with lingering showers or pockets of drizzle.

Make sure to have the warm rain gear if you'll be joining the 7News team for the annual 2025 National Cherry Blossom Parade. Skies may attempt to brighten a bit by the late afternoon and early evening hours.

Drier and warmer weather is expected Sunday to round out the weekend with more seasonable highs in the 60s.

Looking ahead to next week, we'll kick off the third week of April with highs back into the 70s on Monday! A cold front will slide through Monday night, bringing clouds and an isolated shower chance, as well as a cool-down. It will be breezy and cooler on Tuesday with highs in the 60s. Wednesday will be the chilliest day of the week with highs in the 50s. Temperatures rebound back into the 60s by Thursday.
