John Rogers

John Rogers joined the 7News team in December 2023.

John came to WJLA/ABC7 from WRIC in Richmond, Va. where he spent four years as a morning anchor.

Before working in Virginia, John reported and anchored in Tampa, FL. He has also worked in Mobile, AL, Tallahassee, FL and Valdosta, Ga. He is a proud alumnus of Florida State University.

Some of the most iconic news stories he’s covered include the 2010 Oil Spill, the Parkland massacre and the 2009 Obama Inauguration.

He’s interviewed political figures like John McCain and sports figures like Nick Saban and Shaquille O’Neal. One of his fondest memories was meeting Neil Armstrong and Gene Cernan, the first and last men on the moon.

John is a proud Air Force brat born and raised in Panama and has lived around the country.

His move to the DMV is a homecoming. In the 90s, John lived in Fairfax County while his dad was stationed at the Pentagon. John also used to visit his grandparents in Clinton, Md.

During his free time, John is a history nut who loves visiting museums and historic sites. He also loves theme parks, travel and exploring the outdoors.
