Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has a new top protector.

Laremy Tunsil, the left tackle, was introduced to the Washington, D.C. media on Monday.

Tunsil has two years remaining on his three-year, $75 million extension he signed in 2023. His cap hit for 2025 will be over $20 million. But that's okay with the Commanders because they have one of the best in the business protecting the blindside of Daniels.

"I can't wait to block for Jayden Daniels," Tunsil said during his Monday press conference. "He's a baller. Just from seeing him on TV and on film too, it seems like he's a better dude."

The trade went down last week when Washington acquired Tunsil and a 2025 fourth-round pick in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick, a 2025 seventh-round pick, a 2026 second-round pick, and a 2026 fourth-round pick.

In his career, the 30-year-old Tunsil has started in all 125 games he has appeared in and is a five-time Pro Bowler. In 2016, he earned PFWA All-Rookie Team honors.

"I can make a huge impact," Tunsil said. "Pass protector, damn good run blocker."

Since 2022, he has earned a 91.7 pass-blocking grade (second among all offensive tackles) and allowed a presser rate of 3.1 percent, the third-best among all offensive tackles.

Not only does Tunsil fill a significant hole, but the move allows the Commanders to move rookie left tackle Brandon Coleman to either left guard or right tackle, improving two positions with one move.
