Washington, D.C. -- Local singer-songwriter Colton Davies joined Good Morning Washington to perform an acoustic rendition of his debut single “Honey” in the studio and chat about his journey to performing.

"Junior year of high school, my friend pushed me on stage and made me audition for the musical and I somehow got the lead,” said Davies. “I walked off stage crying, called my mom, and said, ‘I think I need to do this for the rest of my life.’”

Davies, who now resides in New York City, reminisced on many fond memories of his time growing up in the DMV. “That is shown through my music. I miss Virginia so much in my everyday life. Just the trees, all the mountains,” said the Loudoun County native.

The contemporary folk singer takes inspiration from artists like Noah Kahan and Zach Bryan, focusing on the impact of emotional lyrics to make listeners reflect on all things past and present.

Davies’ debut album will be out in June, with more singles to be released in the meantime. His music can be streamed everywhere.
