Local realtor Joe Himali becomes a social media sensation sharing DMV's architectural gems

WASHINGTON (7News) — After 24 years of being a realtor, Joe Himali has gained quite a social media presence by teaching locals about the rich architectural history of the DMV area.

The internet personality goes by the handle “Best Address” and has amassed over 150,000 followers on both TikTok and Instagram. Himali joined Good Morning Washington to share his story and passion for history.

After taking on a bet with his daughter, Himali started uploading to social media and unbeknownst to him, gained a following by posting about architectural design and the history of buildings.

Himali’s longtime passion for history started in the 80s after diving into books and shows about design and architecture. “When I became a real estate agent, I knew what I really wanted to do was to work with historic architecture,” he said. “There’s so much undiscovered out there for people to take a look at.”

Through his content, Himali has connected with younger audiences and garnered a supportive community of architecture lovers. He tells the untold stories of local buildings.

Himali’s social platforms have been a way to add value to historical structures and educate the public. “When you know what it is and understand what it is, that’s what makes it valuable and interesting,” he said.

When not posting social content or selling properties, Himali hosts walking tours of historical cities in DC, pointing out anecdotes and architectural details of the buildings we walk past daily.
