MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (7News) — A brief barricade situation in Bethesda, Maryland, on Friday started after reports that a woman had been kidnapped at gunpoint by someone she knew moments before, according to Montgomery County police.
Robert Deeter, 31, of Bethesda, Maryland, was arrested for the kidnapping. He is charged with kidnapping, first-degree assault, stalking, harassment and multiple handgun charges, officials said.
Shortly before 5 p.m., police said a man who barricaded himself inside a vehicle caused lane closures near Old Georgetown Road and Beech Avenue, officials said.

Hours prior, at around 2:33 p.m., Montgomery County police officers responded to reports of a kidnapping at the 10300 block of Old Georgetown Road. Shortly after, officers reportedly followed Deeter's red Toyota RAV4 to near Rockledge Drive and Interstate 270, when a woman jumped out of the SUV; she told police she knew the man and was kidnapped by him.
During the standoff, negotiators were called in and convinced him to surrender, according to Montgomery County police.
Deeter was then arrested, and a firearm was found in his vehicle.

Deeter was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. He is being held without a bond, said Montgomery County police.
