Yakima County Asset Building Coalition

The Yakima County Asset Building Coalition (YCABC) was created from the momentum of the local grassroots Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) campaign. After hearing and seeing the intense need for financial literacy, asset building support and assistance from the EITC and other low-income clients, it was clear that the identified specific service needs were not being met in the community.

Mission
The Mission of the Yakima County Asset Building Coalition is to advocate for financial literacy and the development of personal assets for working families and individuals living in Yakima County.

Goals

1.) Ensure consumer-driven service development

  • Conduct a consumer-based assessment
  • Hold Public Forums across the county
  • Merge consumer feedback with data in current Needs Assessment
2.) Facilitate a culture of consumer-centered services
  • Expand the coalition to include representation of groups that are focused on homeownership, advanced education, and small business development
  • Develop a case management model based on a ‘No Wrong Door’ policy with the expanded coalition
  • Lead an effort to centralize legislative advocacy in conjunction with the new coalition representation
3.) Identify consumer-centered services that need to be developed
  • Map previously siloed services
  • Perform a gap analysis based on consumer feedback and geographic indicators
  • Perform a Cost Analysis of the proposed new services
