Seattle-King County Asset Building Coalition

Vision

Lower-income and working people achieve their financial goals and benefit from a cohesive and comprehensive continuum of asset building services—people are connected with the services they need, when they need them.

Goals

  • Provide low- and moderate-income people with access to affordable mainstream financial services, including checking and savings accounts, financial education, and credit opportunities.
  • Conduct a pilot project to test delivery methods of asset building services to help clients progress on the economic security continuum.
  • Increase access to and strengthen the connections in the delivery of a range of public benefits, including tax preparation assistance.
  • Provide assistance to those at risk of mortgage foreclosure by working with advocates, lenders and other stakeholders on education and foreclosure prevention and intervention measures.
  • Implement an initiative designed to work with employers and unions to offer public benefits and asset building services to their lower-wage employees at the place of employment.
