Three local teams will have a chance to bring home titles this weekend as the football season comes to an end on Championship Saturday.

Class 3 - Kettle Run Cougars

Kettle Run will look to take down Liberty Christian. Both teams are undefeated Kettle Run 14-0, and Liberty Christian at 13-0. For the Cougars to stay undefeated and win they will have to contain Liberty Christian’s star running back Gideon Davidson. The Clemson commit is the number one overall player in Virginia according to Rivals. Davidson has 2,716 rushing yards this season and 7,000 yards on the ground overall in his career.

The Bulldogs have outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points per game.

Should Kettle Run win it will be the first ever state football title for a school in Fauquier County.

Class 6 - James Madison Warhawks

James Madison is tasked with trying to defeat the last team not named Freedom-Woodbridge to win a Class 6 Championship, Oscar C. Smith.

The Tigers enter the game 16-0 and boast one of the more complete teams top-to-bottom in the Commonwealth.

Sophomore quarterback Lonnie Andrews leads the way for Oscar C. Smith. He’ll have plenty of playmakers on his side, running back Brandon Nesbit scored two touchdowns in their semifinal win. Also, speedy wideout Alvin ‘Trey’ Jones, a University of Buffalo commit, will test the Warhawks defensive backfield manned by Henry Maiden, and Graham Gorkowski, who both had interceptions in Madison’s semifinal victory.

Class 5 - Briar Woods Falcons

For Briar Woods, they have the opportunity to dethrone the defending champion, Maury Commodores.

Maury is the top-ranked team in the Commonwealth according to Sports Illustrated, and feature one of the best offenses. In three weeks, the Commodores scored 84, 82, and 97 points in those games. Quarterback Au’tori Newkirk leads the way along with wideout LeBron Bond. However, is the Maury defense that may be a big strength, defensive back Kendall Daniels Jr., a South Carolina commit, and 4-star recruit helping Maury sneak out a win in the semifinal.

Maury is in the midst of a 28-game win streak.
