Rebecca Turco

Reporter

Rebecca Turco is a General Assignment Reporter for 7News.She joined the team in the fall of 2023.

She is proud to call the DMV home after more than a decade of reporting across the East Coast.

As a general assignment reporter, she covers breaking news, local politics –-- and everything in between.

Rebecca became a journalist to hold truth to power and report on stories that impact people. Before coming to 7News, she was a freelance reporter for Boston 25 News after spending nearly four years at Spectrum News 13 in Orlando, where she reported and filled in on the anchor and traffic desks.

In the sunshine state, Rebecca packed on the sunscreen as she reported on everything from politics to theme parks to hurricanes. Numerous stories she reported on made national headlines, from the FreeFall ride tragedy to the passage of the Florida law regulating gender and sexual orientation teachings in the classroom, known by opponents as the “Don’t Say Gay” legislation.

Before her time in Florida, Rebecca was the weekend anchor/reporter at ABC6 News in her home state of Rhode Island. While there, she covered several high-profile stories, including the murder trial of former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez and preliminary court proceedings for the landmark texting suicide case in which then-teenager Michelle Carter was later convicted of manslaughter for encouraging her boyfriend through text messages and phone calls to kill himself.

Rebecca began her career as a reporter and morning/noon anchor at WOAY in southern West Virginia. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Quinnipiac University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Political Science.

In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys spending time with nearby family, reading, going to the movies and catching up on her favorite television shows. One of her goals is to visit every Smithsonian museum, and she is always looking for sightseeing and restaurant recommendations in the area.
