The National Cherry Blossom Festival is kicking off Petalpalooza at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
The celebration brings art, music, and play to multiple outdoor stages all along the banks of the Anacostia River.

The evening will end with a spectacular fireworks show at 8:30 p.m.
7News spoke with the President of the National Cherry Blossom Festival on Saturday morning to get a preview of what people can expect.
Organizers want to remind people that if you are taking the Metro, be advised that the east entrance (M St. & New Jersey Ave. SE) at Navy Yard-Ballpark Station is under construction. The west entrance at Half St. SE is recommended for smoother access.
